Welche Bedeutung hat die Digitalisierung für Deine/ihre Karriere?
Being part of a fast changing environment developing itself from a so called “copy-cat” to a high speed leader in digital innovation within a decade, I decided to actively approach the company’s management and proposed to change my role as a managing director of the China office and become a digital transformation officer back in Germany in the company’s headquarter. I realized that the company needs a change in mindset, technology and innovation if they want to survive in the VUCA world in China. As part of the plan and a fundamental basis for the turn of my professional career, I decided to participate in the first cohort of a part time MBA Digital Transformation Management program at Goethe Business School Frankfurt, allowing me to put my experiences in a scientific framework and gaining professional knowledge of the spectrum and complexity digital transformation in a business context. My vision: empower stakeholders on all levels to actively participate in the transformation process and enable the company to The company’s mission: create a suitable IT – infrastructure allowing a global collaboration, accept and promote the role of IT as an essential business enabler and not just a service provide targeting for profit, create digital solutions for relevant processes and business models that serve the target markets, create an environment of knowledge transfer and diffusion by changing culture from purely profit to innovation and incubation oriented.
Warum bist Du/ist sie ein Digital Female Leader?
Asking me what makes a digital female leader is an interesting question because it is already difficult to answer the question what is a digital leader. Therefore, I will provide a very general idea, which is not scientifically proven or is based on any evidence since the phenomena of digital transformation is rather new and we need more cases to see if gender has an impact on a digital leader or not. From my subjective perspective and the experiences in a male dominated management environment (very positive in Asia) I want to say that female leaders not only digital but general (very general speaking) might think in a more complex and long-term perspective. Targeting to create transparency, which will allow the teams to understand and actively or passively participate in the transformation process. As provided by nature, female have the ability to communicate and socialize in different way, as we do not consider status as the ultimate goal, which for different reason is a more male related social need. Women are more considered to appreciate social values such as fairness and certainty. And as a personal value any leader will also project these values to their environment and create a certain culture. Having said this, I think a female leader has the ability to provide a feeling of certainty and fairness, which is the basis for collaboration, participation and trust – the fuel for transformation.
