IBM is a world leading technology and innovation company, serving thousands of clients in the world. But it is also a company where men and women, people from different nationalities, cultures, sexual orientation etc, work together in achieving the business goals and make difference in the world. One of the company policy is having diverse teams and also more women onboard. I am a core-team member of the IBM Women’s Network in The Netherlands which purpose is to empower the female talent in the company and help them improve their visibility within and outside the company. We organize learning activities, workshops, presentations, and networking events, but also we have collaboration with other professional women networks and organizations in The Netherlands. As UN Women Champion for Change I have been serving as advocate for gender equality and women’s economic empowerment both online and in the local communities by doing the campaigns: #Iam(wo)man, #BreakTheGlass, #HERstory, and #PressForProgress . I am also active as: - Initiator of the online platform Women’s Professional Empowerment Initiative - Amsterdam, with purpose to empower the female talent in tech (https://www.facebook.com/WPEIAmsterdam), - Initiator of the online campaign #CelebratingWomenInTech, improving the visibility of the women in tech and featuring them as role-models for many other ambitious girls and women who want to embrace their careers in tech (https://www.facebook.com/CelebratingWomenInTech), - Mentor of female professionals willing to develop their personal leadership skills and move to the next level of their professional careers, - Volunteer at VHTO (https://www.vhto.nl/over-vhto/english-page/) Dutch National Expert Organization for more Women and Girls in STEM. - Public speaker and panelist in the fields of Women, Innovation and Tech (WIT).
How does digitization shape your/her career?
I work as Project Manager, Innovative Projects at IBM, and I have more than 17 years of experience in design, development, implementation and management of digital and technical solutions for various IBM clients in The Netherlands and Europe. I have been working on a wide range of projects, from big transition & transformations to small but agile digital projects. Some of them were award-winning. I am passionate about technology and digital innovation, and using it to make social impact and difference in the world. Next to my regular job at IBM I am also a promotor and an advocate for Gender Equality in workplace and an ambassador for more women and girls in tech. And since 2016 I am an UN Women Champion for Change for women’s economic empowerment.
What makes you/her a digital female leader?
I don’t only possess solid technical and digital knowledge, but also strong interpersonal skills which helps me put my vision in practice. Because digital transformation is not only about technology but it is also about purpose, strategy, structure, collaborative culture, creative and diverse thinking, and capabilities to understand the customer needs. My leadership style is leading by example, by influencing and inspiring others to use their talents, develop their potentials and reach their goals.
