How does digitization shape your/her career?
Driving digital transformation of the industrial world has been one of the key pillars of my career: from manufacturing in Asia to creating and driving the Siemens-wide Digitalization strategy, implementing industrial IoT/digital services to increase availability, reduce costs for the rail industry, and currently driving the digital transformation of the energy sector as its Chief Digital Officer. The challenge and thrill of transforming large traditional industries through digitalization, combined with the benefits that digitized industrial solutions can bring to society, keeps me going every single day!
What makes you/her a digital female leader?
A large part of transforming the industrial world has to do with people and mindset. For example, it is cool to create digital solutions using AI, however if AI is not applied in a way that brings value to our customers, partners or society, then we have failed. In order to drive this value creation across all stakeholders, it is vital to move away from the industrial mindset of ‘I create products and sell to my customers’, to how can ‘we’ collaborate and co-create to develop solutions that create value. Also, breaking the strong silos between people from the ‘industrial’ and ‘digital’ world is key to drive this change. I was nominated 'Change Maker' at the London Tech Week 2018.
What does leadership mean to you/her?
In today’s world of flux, leadership is about providing the right platform and culture to enable people to celebrate a transformation, not just endure it.
